2023-24 Lakeside Middle FFA Leadership Team
Chapter officers serve a vital function in FFA. By taking a major leadership role, these students grow from the experience and benefit the chapter. They are some of our most active members, as they compete on leadership/judging teams, attend conventions, leadership workshops and camps, and are in charge of planning and executing monthly chapter meetings, community service projects, and school events. President - Skylar Leca
What is your "why" - your reason for joining FFA?
I joined FFA because since I was a kid, I was interested in being a farmer. When I discovered that I could make it a reality by just joining a science class, I jumped at the opportunity.

What are 3 fun facts about you that you'd like to share with members?
Some fun facts about me are I am in the advanced art class, my favorite animal is a horse, and I play the ukulele and guitar.

Why do you think students at Lakeside Middle School should join FFA?
I think student from LMS should join FFA because of the opportunities it opens up throughout your life.
Vice President - Natalie Rehder
What is your "why" - your reason for joining FFA?
Originally coming to FFA in 6th grade, I really wanted to know more about 4h, so I researched it more and saw that in FFA I can do things like vet science and meats judging. And i was interested, so I did it. Now in 7th grade, I continue to do it because it is fun and has learning experiences.

What are 3 fun facts about you that you'd like to share with members?
At my house, I have a garden that I grow food to eat, and my father and I maintain it along with a compost bin. I act and like creating content to show to my siblings and perents. I do many extracurriculars, like art, music, and soccer.

Why do you think students at Lakeside Middle School should join FFA?
Because you can connect and relate through it to not just LMS students but other schools. You learn good sportsmanship and how to work as a team. There are different opportunities that can follow you into high school.
Secretary - Kaylee Sproul
What is your "why" - your reason for joining FFA?
FFA is truly an AMAZING organization that has changed my life in so many different ways. If you told me I would be here 1 year ago I would never believe you. I am truly blessed to be a part of this organization and will continue to be involved in it for the next few years.

What are 3 fun facts about you that you'd like to share with members?
I have two bunnies and a dog, I am a Swiftie, and my favorite food is sushi.

Why do you think students at Lakeside Middle School should join FFA?
I think they should join because it is truly a life changing experience and one that I hope to spread to as many people as I can. I love this organization and hope it goes on for many years to come.

What is your "why" - your reason for joining FFA?
I joined FFA because I thought it was fun and I could learn more about animals and plants, and my dad, an alumni, said when he did it it was a lot of fun.

What are 3 fun facts about you that you'd like to share with members?
I love dogs a lot, I like to be with my family, and I like to play basketball.

Why do you think students at Lakeside Middle School should join FFA?
I think that they should join because you will have cool experiences and learn some stuff that you don't learn in other classes.
Reporter - Olivia Richards
What is your "why" - your reason for joining FFA?
I joined FFA because I was very interested in the Vet Science CDE and wanted to participate in the contests and other events. I love everything we do, especially raising livestock and growing crops. My favorite part of FFA is the farming part.

What are 3 fun facts about you that you'd like to share with members?
I love cosplaying, I can do aerobics, and I know how to play D&D.

Why do you think students at Lakeside Middle School should join FFA?
Because it's an amazing organization that is welcoming, inclusive, and caring. FFA can teach you leadership skills and help you make friends. I definitely would recommend joining FFA.

What is your "why" - your reason for joining FFA?
I like chickens and wanted to learn to more about them and help raise them.

What are 3 fun facts about you that you'd like to share with members?
My birthday is on May 5, my favorite band is blink182, and I play the ukulele and drums.

It is a fun way to make friends!
Growing Leaders Committee Chair - Dillon Horning
What is your "why" - your reason for joining FFA?
Because I want to be a veternarian when I grow up and I feel it is best to start sooner rather than later as well as i wanted to make friends.

What are 3 fun facts about you that you'd like to share with members?
I love hamsters, I'm in the drama class, and I have a dog.

Because it is a great way to make friends and learn about science!
Strengthening Agriculture Committee Chair - Brodie Fletcher
What is your "why" - your reason for joining FFA?
Because ever since the previous leadership team came into my 6th grade classroom and taught us about FFA leadership I thought it was fascinating, so I joined.

What are 3 fun facts about you that you'd like to share with members?
My birthday is July 19th, I like music, and I'm in advanced art.

Why do you think students at Lakeside Middle School should join FFA?
They will learn many life skills and get rid of stage fright.

What is your "why" - your reason for joining FFA?
FFA has taught me how to be a great leader, and build character. FFA has made me a better person. I have had a great time so far being on the leadership team, and I like supporting my FFA chapter.

What are 3 fun facts about you that you'd like to share with members?
That I am a good leader, I like to let other people shine a lot, and that I am capable of doing great things.

Why do you think students at Lakeside Middle School should join FFA?
FFA is a great opportunity for students to learn about new and different things about agriculture. FFA builds great character, and good leadership qualities. FFA teaches you to take the chances, these qualities can be great for interviews and possible jobs. Furthermore, FFA is a great way for students to try new things, and become a better leader.

What is your "why" - your reason for joining FFA?
The reason I joined FFA is because I heard it was a good opportunity to learn leadership skills, meet new people, develop a good work ethic, learn problem solving and business skills. I also was excited to learn more about agriculture and work with animals.

What are 3 fun facts about you that you'd like to share with members?
Three facts about me are I am a military child, I have lived in Japan, and my favorite animal is a horse.

Why do you think students at Lakeside Middle School should join FFA?
I think students should join because it's a great way to learn skills you need to have in the future and become the best version of yourself!
Strengthening Agriculture Committee Co-Chair - Colton Snyder
What is your "why" - your reason for joining FFA?
In 5th grade, I went to the electives meeting, and as we were going through electives, I saw plants and animals, and my world opened up. I have wanted to be a chef since Kindergarten (and still do), but I saw a chick, and exploded with awe. It was a science class, so I could still have two electives. My 6th grade year was spent in the garden - we planted, weeded, and composted too. So far this year, FFA is going amazing! Garden Club has started, fundraisers are going great, and we have ANIMALS! When I joined FFA I just thought it was animals, plants, done. But FFA is so much more than that, it's a place of learning, fun, and opportunities. This is my second home, and that means the world to me.

What are 3 fun facts about you that you'd like to share with members?
My favorite animal is a cow, I'm a serious Zelda fan, and I love my dogs more than anything in the universe.

Why do you think students at Lakeside Middle School should join FFA?
FFA is your time to shine. I love seeing new faces every day in FFA, because each and every person has the chance to make change. You can go down so many career paths, have so many college opportunities, and one day you could even become National President of the FFA. One tiny change could lead to a huge change in the community of the FFA. It's not just about opportunity, it's about the fun and excitement too. I have had an amazing, fun, and hilarious experience in the FFA. I met my best friend through all the group opportunities, and now we hang out all the time. Ms. Lent is the most hilarious teacher, and the most happy, fun, and caring teacher I've had. All the different people in this class make for fun and diverse opportunities, and I wouldn't want anyone to miss it. Please, join the FFA for not me, but yourself, because you should have this for you and everyone around you.

What is your "why" - your reason for joining FFA?
My dad is an alumni of an FFA chapter in Idaho, so my parents encouraged me to sign up.

What are 3 fun facts about you that you'd like to share with members?
I like to play video games on my Xbox and my phone, I have 2 cats and I love sleeping.

Why do you think students at Lakeside Middle School should join FFA?
You get to hang out with friends and learn about the world of farming.
Advisor - Ms. Lent
What is your "why" - your reason for joining FFA?
I joined FFA as a ninth grader at Carpinteria High School. I love animals, so as soon as the chapter officers pulled out a rabbit at the elective fair, I knew I had to join the program. I started raising livestock and competing in public speaking during my first semester of high school, and after that I never looked back.

What are 3 fun facts about you that you'd like to share with members?​
I have two 3 year old cats named Stevie Licks and Lindsey Buckingcat, I love true crime podcasts, and last summer I got to complete two educational externship programs - one at Hilliker's Egg Ranch, and the other with the San Diego Zoo and Wildlife Alliance program!

Why do you think students at Lakeside Middle School should join FFA?
It's a great way to meet new people and gain opportunities for hands-on learning through FFA, SAEs and classroom activities! With the garden club, breeding and market animals, public speaking, and 3 CDE teams, including meats judging, vet science and small engines, there is truly something for everyone!
